After my transition to the US, first change that had a striking impact on me are few names of food items which I have been eating right from my childhood under a different identity.

Let me list out all of them:
- Desi - USA
- Chole/Kabuli chana - Chik peas/Garbanzo beans
- Green chillies/mirchi - Jalapenos/Finger hots
- Capsicum - Green/Bell/Orange/Sweet Peppers
- Bendi/Bindi/Ladies fingers - Okra
- Coriander leaves/Dhaniya - Cilantro
- Tulasi leaves - Basil
- Palak - Spinach
- Curd/Dahi - Yogurt
- Icecream - Frozen Yogurt
- Prawns - Shrimps
- Basen - Chik pea flour
- Bombay Ravva - Suji
- Methi - Fenugreek leaves
- Saunf/Sonp - Fennel Seeds
- Jeera - Cumin seeds
- Beetroot - Beets
- Spring Onions - Scallion/green onions
- Sambar Onions - Shallots/pearl onions
- All Purpose Flour - Maida
- Hing - Asafoetida
- Dal - Lentils
- Cup cakes - Muffin
